Redgate Clayton Football Club

ABF_Redgate_1This Monday afternoon (17th March 2014) the Redgate Clayton Football Club, Newcastle under Lyme, was the first recipient of a cheque from the recently established Asmir Begovic Foundation.

On hand to receive it was Chairman, Clive Russell with 45 years of service to the club and additionally President, Arthur Jackson, 50 years service, Vice-President, Roger Farr, 45 years service and Vice Chairman, Paul Clements, 10 years service.

Asmir presented the cheque of £ 1000.00, which will help with the refurbishment of facilities at their ground in Northwood Lane.

“We are delighted to be helping a local football team,” said Stoke City’s Bosnian-born goalkeeper, “because that is our main ambition with the foundation.

“They want to improve their facilities to provide the opportunity for both adults and children to train at the ground by making their changing rooms better and their club house bigger.

“The foundation is all about building or improving facilities to help get a lot more people involved in sport and exercise to keep themselves healthy and happy We want to help where help is genuinely needed, and that also includes a couple of projects we have in the pipeline in Bosnia.”

Additionally Asmir was given a tour of the clubhouse and the grounds by Mr Russell.We managed to share some nostalgic stories and view photographs with the other guests relating to their time playing for Redgate Clayton F.C.

We were also grateful for the support given by Stoke City F.C. legend Terry Conroy.

Asmir will continue to support the club with future projects.
